Deputies warn of door-to-door sale scam

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some residents in Clyo, Ga., said that have been approached over the past several days from people are going door to door, selling services for asphalt work.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office warns that residents are getting scammed in the process.

The victims would pay the individuals who would not complete their work to what it was advertised, according to the sheriff's office.

Some victims have lost thousands of dollars in this scam.

Those who solicit business in Effingham County door to door must have a business permit as well as a permit from the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office recommended that people call authorities if they see suspicious activity in their neighborhoods, including individuals who are going door to door soliciting.
