Three men charged with Glynn Co. burglaries

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Three men were arrested and charged in connection with a string of burglaries in Glynn County.

Roderick D. Thomas, 21; Javon Newton, 21; and William Gilkey, 21, all of Brunswick, Ga., were arrested at about 11 a.m. on July 7 at 2106 Parkwood Dr.  

Thomas ran for about three blocks before a Taser stopped him, according to the Glynn County Police Department. He was charged with two counts of burglary, three felony theft charges for receiving stolen property and one misdemeanor theft charge for receiving stolen property. Thomas had outstanding warrants for criminal damage to property, battery and cruelty to children, according to a news release.

Newton was charged with two counts of burglary, five counts of felony theft by receiving stolen property and two counts of misdemeanor theft by deception.

Gilkey was charged with two counts of burglary, two felony theft charges for receiving stolen property and one misdemeanor theft charge for receiving stolen property. He had an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license, the release said.

The burglaries happened at Royal Drive, Buford Road, Buckswamp Road, Serenoa Drive, Fancy Bluff Road, Old Jesup Road and Magnolia Avenue. Much of the stolen property, including weapons, jewelry and electronics, was recovered, according to the police department.

Authorities said more charges are likely, and that the investigation continues.
