Hilton Head armed robber sought

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning on the south end of Hilton Head.

Sheriff's deputies were called just before 3:15 a.m. Saturday to Hilton Head Plaza at 7 Greenwood Dr. on a robbery report. A 27-year-old man told deputies he had just been robbed at gunpoint by a black male.

The victim said he walking through the parking lot when he was approached by a tall black male, who told him he needed to talk to him and followed him to the nearby Wachovia parking lot, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The man said the robber then put what he believed to be the barrel of a handgun to the back of his head, and the robber demanded his wallet and he complied. The robber then ran toward Pope Avenue.

The armed robber is described as a black male with short corn rows in his hair. He's between 20 to 25 years old, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weights about 200 pounds.
