SYLVANIA, GA (WTOC) - Ramona Lariscy, 81, was found dead in her home in Sylvania by Screven County police. They went to the home when neighbors reported they had not seen her come outside in a few days and the television was left on inside.
Lariscy's body was found in between her bedroom and bathroom. Police will not know a cause of death until an autopsy is performed, which is scheduled for Wednesday.
Screven County police called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for assistance.
When asked if criminal activity is involved, police said they aren't ruling anything out.
Neighbors are suspicious about what happened to the woman in what is normally a safe town. "I would say our town is about as safe a town as you can find," Donnie Bennett said.
Bennett lives next to Lariscy's house on Main Street. He said she always appeared to be healthy. "She got around well. She walked everyday. The last time I saw her last Thursday she was toting some sticks out into the street," Bennett said.
Lariscy's two sons arrived into town from Albany on Monday evening. Police escorted them into the house. They didn't want to comment on the situation.
