SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - While it's Summer break for many students, some teachers are still in the classroom. At Georgia Southern University some teachers are spending two weeks learning new engineering and technology so they can bring it back to their own classrooms this fall. The teachers are learning mostly hands on courses focusing on digital electronics, principals of engineering and design. Aniruddha Mitra is the coordinator for the project.

"It's not just pure math or science there are all the components to make an engineer successful in their career," Mitra explained.

The two week course is sponsored by Project Lead the Way which is a non-profit organization.

The goal is to spread engineering and technology through middle and high schools across the country. To learn more about the organization you can email Mitra at mitra@GeorgiaSouthern.edu or call 912.478.5129.
