Water company warns of suspicious phone calls

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Beaufort and Jasper Water and Sewer Authority is warning customers about a phone scam.

Customers are getting phone calls from someone using their account information to persude them to make a payment over the phone before their water is shut off, according to the company.

BJWSA said if consumers get such a call they should not give out any credit card information to the unidentified caller and hang up immediately. Call 843.987.9292 to access and verify information about aaccount or can call police.
