Two Coast Guard command changes in Savannah. Last week, with the Coast Guard Cutter "Key Biscayne" here for maintenance, Lieutenant Hernandez took over for departing commander, Lieutenant Smicklas. Said he upon relinquishing command: "It's easy to walk away from the boat. There are always more boats. It's hard to walk away from the crew."
Then, this week, a change of command at Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, as Commander Timothy Tobiasz took over command from Captain Donna Cottrell, who's completed her two-year tour of duty here. Captain Cottrell will spend this next year in graduate study at the prestigious Naval War College. We wish her the very best with this next assignment in her, now, 26-year Coast Guard career, and our congratulations and welcome to Commander Tobiasz and his family, as they now join our outstanding Air Station team in Savannah.
