VIDALIA, GA (WTOC) - Some convicted shoplifters in Vidalia are being sentenced to holding signs that name their crimes.

Judge Malcolm Bryant this week sentenced seven convicted shoplifters to hold signs in front of the business in question for eight hours per person.

Vidalia Police Chief Frank Waits said the defendents could begin serving their sentences as early as this weekend.

Waits said the judge will allow the defendents to break up the eight hours into several sessions.
