SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A heat advisory has been issued from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service advisory includes most of southern South Carolina and southeast Georgia.
High temperatures reaching into the mid 90s combined with moderate levels of humidity will produce heat index values as high as 105 or 106 degrees for two to three hours Tuesday afternoon, according to the NWS.
Very hot temperatures can be expected. The combination of heat and humidity will create a
situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
The NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying out of the sunshine and checking up on the elderly and staying in air conditioning.
The advisory includes these Georgia counties: Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Bulloch, Screven, Candler, Evans, Tattnall, Long and McIntosh.
It also includes these South Carolina counties: Hampton, Jasper and Beaufort.
