SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The St. Joseph's/Candler Leukemia Cup Regatta is set to raise its sails once again.

Sailing legend John McIntosh will be honored with a yacht hop party catered by some of Savannah's best chefs. All of the money raised will help support patients such as 4-year-old Matthew McKinley, who was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just 2.

"Once you do that diagnosis, you do something with it. So that's why we need to expand the funds because we're detecting more people, and now we've got to treat more people. But there's good news in this equation, especially with children. If you catch that early enough, children have an 85 percent survival rate," said Paul Hinchey, CEO of St. Joseph's/Candler.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta is organized by members of the Savannah Yacht Club. They'll also host a 5K run around Fort Pulaski Labor Day weekend.
