SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A family got a bargain they still can't believe from a person who just wanted to offer some joy in their lives.
A pre-owned Ford Taurus is now the new Thomas family car. Both Matthew and Janie Thomas are happy to have it.
The Thomas family had a car that broke down all the time, which didn't help when they had to take their adopted 12-year-old son Terrence, who has autism, to the doctor.
"We were down at one point with nothing to get around in," Matthew Thomas said.
So they were forced to make a purchase. They went to Auto Source and brought the car home.
Two weeks later, they went back to Auto Source for an oil change and that's when the owner decided to donate the car to the Thomas family.
"That means so much to me. I can't tell you in words how much that means,"said Janie Thomas.
"All you have to do is have faith and believe in and everything will work out. I'm a witness,"said Matthew Thomas.
Auto Source owner Joe Frazar said it just was the right thing to do.
"This older couple had taken on such a challenge, and I just didn't feel right taking a payment from him," Frazar said.
Frazar said he was amazed to see how much the couple cared about their adopted son and just wanted them to know there are good people out there.
"I didn't do it for a pay-off or benefit. I just had to make a move and it was weighing on me so heavy, and this man needs a break, he said. "It's just a car it's not $1 million and it's something."
But it's something that will change the Thomas' family's life and something they'll never forget.
"Ain't nothing but the Lord that laid it on his heart to give us this car,"said Janie Thomas.
"It's a blessing; it's awesome,"she said.
The Thomas family said they will now be able to take their son to and from school and out to eat.
