Terror Alert Level Raised

The Bush administration has raised the terror alert level from yellow to orange, the fourth highest level on the five-level scale. The move comes after top officials reviewed intelligence reports suggesting attacks are possible.

Those reports also indicate the attacks in Saudi Arabia and Morocco were intended as diversions to focus American attention on threats abroad while al Qaida plans for an attack inside the US.

"We've got to understand there is an al Qaida group still actively plotting to kill," the President said.

An audio tape released by Osama bin Laden shortly before the war started mentioned Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Pakistan as attack targets, but his prime target remains the United States.
