Mother of 3-year-old shot describes robbery

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The mother of a 3-year-old who was shot late Friday afternoon said her son is still recovering.

Jahavon Grows Jr. was shot while sitting in the backseat of his uncle's vehicle when robbery suspects were shooting at them as they drove away, according to police.

Jahavon's mother said three men tried to rob his uncle at the corner of Belont Street and Neva Avenue, and when he drove away, the men shot at the car.

A bullet went through the trunk and Jahavon's car seat, hitting him in the back. She said the bullet went through his back and is lodged in his leg.

Just before 6 p.m. Friday, he was brought into Memorial University Health Center suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. Jahavon's mother said he is in the intensive care unit.

Orlando Green, 20, Eric Grimes, 17, and Narze Walker, 18, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.

They appeared before a judge Monday afternoon and were denied bond. They remain at the Chatham County Jail.
