SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Temperatures will not be quite as high, according to the NWS. The highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 90s with continued moderate to high levels of humidity. The heat index is predicted to reach 105 to 113 degrees. Thunderstorms are expected to become scattered
to numerous across parts of the area Tuesday afternoon, and the advisory may be lowered in some locations by mid-afternoon, depending on thunderstorm coverage and cloud cover, according to the NWS.
The risk for heat related illnesses will be especially high due to the long duration of this ongoing heat wave.
Those outside are urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and stay in an air
conditioned location if possible.
