SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police arrested a man they say tried to take an officer's gun.
Around 2 p.m., police officers responded to Ogeechee Road on reports of a disorderly person. The officer talked to the person who called who said they were mowing the grass in a vacant lot when one of the resident, 47-year-old Edgar Lee Hamrick, became disorderly.
The officer went to talk to Hamrick and found him hold marijuana plants. The police officer tried to stop Hamrick, and that when he began fighting the police officer. Hamrick tried to take the officer's gun. When a second police officer arrived on the scene he deployed his Taser, according to police.
Hamrick was taken into custody.
The Counter Narcotics Team reponded and Hamrick is charged with manufacturing marijuana, ossession more than one ounce, and two counts of felony obstruction of a police officer.
After EMS checked out Hamrick he was taken to the Chatham County Detention Center.
