SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A proposed ordinance to ban smoking in Savannah will be discussed at a town hall meeting.
This is the second meeting on the controversial proposal. Bar owners took their concerns to the Savannah City Council last week telling them the smoking ban could hurt their business.
Mayor Otis Johnson said the ordinance will pass. The plan would ban smoking in all businesses and would also ban smoking within 20 feet of any business entrance.
The meeting takes place at 7 p.m. in the Savannah Civic Center Ballroom. The city manager will also give a quarterly update.
The draft smoke-free ordinance is available for review on the city's website at www.savannahga.gov. The public can also comment on the draft ordinance electronically by visiting the website.
