3 charged with selling imitation ecstasy to undercover agents

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Three people were charged in connection with selling imitation ecstasy to undercover agents from the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities wrapped up their investigation on Tuesday afternoon after an investigative stop on Ga. 17 near Roebling Road, according to the sheriff's office.

Thomas Allen Snellings, 28, of Pooler, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a counterfeit substance, conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful use of communication facilities and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Erik Santee Smith, 30, of Savannah, and Charles Clifford Berry Jr., 29, of Pooler, were charged with possession with intent to distribute a counterfeit substance, conspiracy to commit a crime and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

Deputies later found that the men sold them over-the-counter cold medications that were presented as ecstasy.

They are being held in the Effingham County Jail.
