SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A man who police say was shot, after he shot at a Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officer, was arraigned today.
Steven Broadus is charged with aggravated assault of an officer.
Today Judge Claire Cornwell-Williams arraigned Broadus in his hospital room at Memorial University Medical Center. Judge Williams denied bond.
Last Saturday police say Broadus tried to avoid a checkpoint in Thunderbolt. They say he sped away from police, crashed his car, then got into a shootout with an officer.
Broadus' attorney, Richard Darden, says his client is able to walk and should be released from the hospital soon. Once he is released a date will be set for his preliminary hearing.
