SLED is investigating Whale Branch Middle School for possibly tampering with the Palmetto Achievement Challenge Tests after school district officials say one to three employees were "inappropriately looking at the tests to see if it matched what they had been teaching." District officials say they began an internal investigation last week, after they got a teacher's comment card that raised the concern. Now, many parents are worried.
"I just hope everything comes to light regarding the investigation," said parent Pam Europe. "I hope the truth comes out."
If the investigation proves these employees are guilty of tampering with the tests, they could face 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Their teaching licenses could also be suspended or revoked.
