Second Harvest receives donation

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Proceeds from Dine Out to End Hunger were presented to Second Harvest on Monday morning. On June 12, area restaurants teamed up and donated a portion of their sales. On Monday, a check for $3,195 was presented to Second Harvest.

"This event for Second Harvest during the summer is extremely important just because donation dollars seem to drop, people are on vacation, kids are out of school," Dine Out to End Hunger chairperson Kristin King told WTOC.

"In the summer we gear up to about 4,000 meals a day and the funds from this event are going to help support feeding children throughout the summer. During the summer months a lot of children are unable to get to a place where they can receive a meal," said Second Harvest Executive Director Mary Jane Crouch. "

Amoung the participating restaurants were Abe's on Lincoln, Bar Food, B. Mathews Eatery, Blowin' Smoke, Cafe 37, Cafe Zeum, Circa 1875, Eos, Loeci's Trattoria, Local 11ten, Papa's Bar-B-Que, The Shrimp Factory, Sol, Starlander Cafe, Tantra Lounge & Tapas and the VU Lounge at the Hyatt.
