Deal makes stop in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - With a week of campaigning left before the run-off election, gubernatorial candidates are taking flight.

On Monday, republican candidate Nathan Deal flew into Savannah, joined by State Representative Ann Purcell, Ron Stephens and a few others. Deal is in a run-off with fellow republican Karen Handel. The former congressman says he is confident he will pick up voters who supported Eric Johnson and John Oxendine.

We're going to continue to campaign all across the state and we have events scheduled everyday, very busy days, but we have received great support all over the state," Deal told WTOC.

Deal faces off with former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel next Tuesday. The winner will face democrat Roy Barnes in November.
