Frightening attack an in unlikely place

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating an assault and attempted kidnapping that happened just after midnight Saturday.

A man was waiting for his girlfriend outside the Barnes and Noble on Highway 278 in Hilton Head when a man and woman grabbed him from behind, put a knife to his throat and started pulling him to the parking lot.

He fought back as the attackers were biting him when a woman saw what was going on and jumped in. She helped the man escape, but the attackers escaped in an Oldsmobile.

The male suspect was described as African-American, between 5'08"-6'00" tall, approximately 150 lbs wearing an all-black jumpsuit. The female suspect was described as a heavy set black woman, possibly in her mid-late 20's wearing a white tank top.

If you have any information regarding this incident call the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
