Soldiers with the Third Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment flew in on a commercial airliner about 11pm last night to be greeted by their loved ones. These soldiers served in western Iraq, coordinating medium and heavy-lift helicopter operations forces. Elements of the unit are also supporting forces in Afghanistan as a part of Operation Enduring Freedom. The soldiers we talked with all say they're looking forward to spending time with their families and enjoying the simple things.
"I think we'll go get something to eat, you know, I want to go get a beer or two and have a good time," said Sgt. Jimmy Lancaster.
These soldiers fly modified versions of the Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters.
