SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Jewish War Veterans will be holding their 115th annual convention in downtown Savannah.
The group is the oldest, continuously active veterans organization in the United States.
Sunday night, they held their welcome reception. Among the issues they'll discuss is helping veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan get back on their feet.
"The veterans have gotten the short end of the stick, we don't want to see what happened to them what happened to the vietnam vets when they came back, " explained veteran Bob Zweiman. "They are a part of our community, they're part of our family, and a very vital part of our nation."
More than 500 veterans are expected to attend the conference.
