SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The VSP mobile eyes buss rolled up to the Saint Mary's Community Center to get children ready for school.
Doctors worked to give children aged four to 17 free eye exams, glasses and school immunizations. It's really helping families who normally couldn't afford to give their children the gift of sight.
"It helped out a lot, because glasses are so expensive, and I really can't afford to just out of pocket buy glasses. So this has been great for me and my family," said Bernice Alcox.
"Many of these children don't have insurance at all, or if they have Medicaid, don't necessarily have the opportunity to get free glasses," said Sister Pat Baber.
They'll be back to work Tuesday and wednesday serving over 150 children in need.
