McDonalds helping students fulfill their dreams

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah area McDonalds' are giving away $24,000 worth of scholarships to employees making the jump to college.

Thanks to a cooperative agreement between the restaurants they can now give away more scholarships than ever.

This new plan has these young minds excited for the future.

"I was like nervous at first.  I didn't really know what I was getting in to, but when I got the scholarship, I was like, that's extra money I can use for books and stuff," said Seymea Thomas, scholarship recipient.

"This year we're giving away 20 of them. We want to give away 50 of them next year and more the year after. So we're excited about our employees being a part of McDonald's and being able to get an education along with it," said Gary Dodd.

Each recipient gets $1,200 divided between two semesters. Congratulations to all and good luck.
