CHARLESTON CO., SC (WTOC) - A body found in Monday morning in southern Charleston County has been identified as that of a missing Bluffton woman.

Alexis Lukaitis, 27, was reported missing Monday by her fiancé, 32-year-old Michael Bartley, after she never returned home from what was expected to be a brief visit to Charleston, according to the Beaufort Co. Sheriff's Office.

Bartley told deputies that Lukaitis went to take a friend to Charleston at 3 p.m. Sunday. At about 7:45 p.m., Bartley said he had talked to Lukaitis by phone and she said she'd be home in about an hour. As of 9 a.m. Monday, Lukaitis had yet to return and after repeated attempts to reach her by phone went unanswered.
