Former Navy Chief Petty Officer convicted of having child porn

BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) - A former Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy in St. Mary's, Ga., was convicted Friday of possessing and receiving child pornography.

Duane Schaff, 37, had child pornography on his laptop and desktop computers between 2005 and February 2008, when his computers were seized from his home by St. Mary's Police Department. 

An investigation found at least 396 images of suspected child pornography, according to court records.

Schaff now faces up to 10 years in prison for possessing child pornography, and from 5 to 20 years in prison for receiving of child pornography. He'll also be required to register as a sex offender and will be subject to a term of supervised release of five years to life. 

A sentencing date has not yet been set.
