Man arrested on armed robbery charges

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A man accused of robbing a convenience store and then running away was quickly nabbed by police.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officers were called just after 1:30 p.m. to the El Cheapo at the 3900 block of Ogeechee Road on a report of an armed robbery.

Store employees and witnesses told police that a short, black male had robbed the store at gun point, and then ran out with an undisclosed amount of money toward Interstate 516.  

The Precinct One Crime Suppression Unit, police officers along with SCMPD K-9, set up a perimeter.

Frank Goldwire, 23, was spotted running from the area and officers followed him.

He was apprehended a short distance away on charges of armed robbery.
