Burglary suspect sought in Beaufort Co.

BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary that occurred Tuesday night at a home on Whites Lane.

Deputies arrived just after 7:30 p.m. to the Diamond townhomes development on a report of a burglary. A 37-year-old man told authorities he arrived home at about 7:15 p.m. to find a masked intruder inside.

The homeowner found the door to his bedroom was closed and locked, which he did not remember doing. Then he saw the armed masked intruder in the foyer and a struggle ensued, according to authorities. The victim was able to free himself from his attacker and escape the home uninjured. The suspect also ran from the home in an unknown direction.

A handgun and several watches had been stolen, and the suspect damaged to an interior wall while rummaging through the home. It is believed that suspect made entry to the home by breaking a window.

Robbery suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a black mask, gray T-shirt and black jeans. He's about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 175 lbs.
