HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - A man who was in a standoff with authorities at his Hilton Head Plantation home is now in custody, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Kenneth Eldimor Allison, 54, was arrested after nearly four hours of attempted negotiations by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team.

Allison was arrested just before 12 a.m. Thursday. The standoff started when Allison called 911 on Wednesday afternoon demanding that the sheriff's office respond to recover a boat, which he claimed had been stolen by his bank for payment issues, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies arrived and told Allison that issue was a civil matter not a criminal one. Allison continued to make repeated 911 calls throughout the afternoon and became increasingly agitated and harassing dispatchers, according to the sheriff's office.

Allison called 911 at about 7:20 p.m., and deputies were dispatched to his home, where he met them armed with a long gun, according to authorities.

A perimeter was set up and then Allison went into his home and refused to come out. While deputies tried to communicate with him, he was seen with several different weapons, including a long gun, a handgun and a bow and arrow, according to the sheriff's office.

The Sheriff's Office Negotiations Team and SWAT Team responded attempts failed to get Allison to communicate or surrender. At about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, SWAT members entered the home and were able to subdue Allison and take him into custody.

Allison was taken to Hilton Head Medical Center for evaluation, released and then taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

After the standoff, a search warrant was executed at Allison's home at 61 High Bluff Rd. The sheriff's office said several weapons and marijuana were found during the search.

Allison was charged with unlawful use of 911 and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He remains in the detention center and is awaiting bond hearings.
