SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Chatham County Commission chairman Pete Liakakis will host a meeting Thursday night with the mayors and city officials of Chatham municipalities.
They plan to discuss the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax Bill, which proposes an additional 1 percent sales tax for transportation projects in the region.
Voters would have the final say. Liakakis is concerned that if the bill is voted down, Chatham County would have to match funds from 30 to 50 percent in order to receive any money from the state for transportation improvements.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the commission meeting room.
