Johnson High School students get head start

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Johnson High School students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate class were getting a head start at the Bull Street Library Thursday morning.

Duke University says its the most rigorous curriculum a high school student can take. The students were prepping for the course with an extended essay summer boot camp.

"I do appreciate the work because it gives me a head start and puts me ahead of the game and won't have me as stressed out as other people," said Johnson High School 11th grader Corliss Best.

"It is very rigorous and it is one of the most stressful things I have done in school, but I think it will be worth it," senior Thomas Horton.

The essay boot camp runs through next week and the major project and essay are due in January. Students at Johnson High School take the course on top of other classes.
