SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - No mother should ever have to bury her children. Now imagine not only losing your son and daughter, but having no way to bury them. It's happening to a Bryan County mother. You may not know her, but it's hard to forget how her children died. It was a horrible car accident Friday August 13th; in Garden City on Highway 80.
8-year-old Decorious Fabin, and his sister, 15-year-old Kierra were riding in the car with their aunt when police say she pulled out, right into the path of a semi-truck. Decorious died on the scene. Emergency workers flew Kierra to Memorial Health.
Their mother, Teresa Fabin was in Savannah when she got the call her children had been in an accident. She rushed to the hospital. "Kierra she was not looking good. They said it was serious and they were going to try to do surgery," said Fabin.
But doctors couldn't save Kierra. "The surgeon came said he didn't have good news. He said he did all he could do," said Fabin.
The pain the family is dealing with this week has been unbearable; to make matters worse, they are still trying to find a way to bury the children. Teresa says they just don't have the money. They need to come up with $8,500. Money they just don't have.
"We need some kind of help," said Teresa Fabin.
The family has set up a fund at Heritage Bank, and they're just hoping the community will help them, so they can finally give these children the proper burial they deserve.
A funeral was planned for the children Saturday, but the family says it has been cancelled until further notice.
If you'd like to donate to the children's memorial fund just stop by any Heritage Bank and ask to donate to the Decorious and Kierra Fabin memorial fund.
