PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department said the owner of a vehicle that had been submerged in the Savannah River near the Houlihan Bridge in Port Wentworth has been located.
A boater spotted the silver Nissan Maxima at 6:51 a.m. Monday and called 911.
Police said the owner was found disoriented and has been taken to Memorial University Medical Center.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources used a side-scan sonar to "eliminate the possibility that the owner of the car is in the water." SCMPD's dive team was on standby.
Police found the man's wallet and ID, but did not release any information about who the car belongs to.
