SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The local chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is breaking ground for the 108th Habitat for Humanity House in Savannah.
The group partnered with the Lowe's Women Build Program and raised nearly $10,000 for the construction. It's giving our ladies under the hard hat a chance to help one woman give her granddaughter a place they can call home.
"Women's Build is about empowering women to take action in their communities and that is what we're here for, is to empower our group, and other women in our community to come out, take action, and provide affordable housing in Savannah," Vice President Amanda Montford.
"I love it. I don't know if this is the first one that they've done, but i'm just glad that it's my house that we all going to be working on," said Qwendolyn Brigham.
