Group celebrates 45 years of service

By Jamie Ertle-Durden - email

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - They are been celebrating four decades of helping the less fortunate: The Economic Opportunity Authority. They held their annual luncheon Tuesday morning celebrating a successful year and 45 years of existance.

Their programs like Head Start helps infants and toddlers and their Home Buyer Education Program helped residents achieve $2 million worth of grants for mortgages in Chatham County last year alone.

The Executive Director of EOA says it's a shame after all they do, that someone would pretend to be a part of their organization and take advantage of people who truly need help. See SCMPD arrest scam suspect.

John Finney, Executive Director of EOA, said, "I would suggest that people check and double check with organizations.  Call the organizations and find out first that the group is soliciting funds"
