SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Police are investigating a domestic-related shooting in the Windsor Forest area.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said that at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday a Third ID soldier shot her husband at their home at 309 Woodley Rd. When police arrived, they found the man lying in his front yard, suffering from a gunshot wound.
John Horton was working on a house across the street when it happened.
"The door flung open at the front of the house. I was working in the back. A lady came in yelling and saying call 911 I shot my husband," Horton said.
Paramedics took the husband to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said that the man's wife was still in the area and ran to get help. She is also being treated at the hospital.
"One of her eyes was swollen. Most of her hair was bloody. She was beat up," Horton said.
Several Third Infantry Division soldiers were standing outside the crime scene tape and were questioned by detectives.
SCMPD Violent Crime detectives responded to the scene and are investigating.
