Investigation continues into domestic-related shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Police continue to investigate a domestic-related shooting in the Windsor Forest area.

Police said that at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Spc. Marlena McLaughin, 26, shot her husband at their home at 309 Woodley Rd. McLaughlin, of Wake Forest, N.C., is stationed at Hunter Army Airforce Base with the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade.

When police arrived, they found the man lying in his front yard, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Paramedics took the husband to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said that the man's wife was still in the area and ran to get help. She treated at the hospital.

Several Third Infantry Division soldiers were standing outside the crime scene tape and were questioned by detectives. 

SCMPD Violent Crime detectives responded to the scene and are investigating.

The couple has four children and they are with a childcare provider at Hunter Army Airforce Base. A family member has been contacted and will come to take care of the children, according to authorities.
