SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A nationally known addiction specialist will be attending the fourth Georgia School of Addiction Studies conference.
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities hosts conference, which started Monday and runs until Friday, Sept. 3. in Savannah.
The theme of this year's focuses on Charting the Course through Prevention, Treatment and Recovery, according to a news release.
Board certified internist Dr. Drew Pinsky, known for his nationally syndicated radio show "Loveline" and the VH1 program "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew," will lead a three-hour session on Sept. 1. September is also National Recovery Month.
Workshops are being offered for CEU credit through the Alcohol and Drug Certification Board of GA; Georgia Addiction Counselor Association; Licensed Professional Counselors Association of GA; and National Association of Social Workers of GA.
A student symposium will take place Wednesday at 6:15 p.m., where they can ask questions of professionals.
