3rd ID soldier found dead at Fort Stewart

FORT STEWART, GA (WTOC)- A 3rd Infantry Division soldier was found dead Tuesday at Fort Stewart.

Maj. Paul A. Egli, 54, of Thompson Station, Tenn., was found unresponsive by Fort Stewart police and emergency medical personnel at building 9727 after a 911 call had been placed, according to a news release. The U.S. Army's Criminal Investigation Command is investigating the death.

Egli was a military police officer who joined the Army in December 1981 and arrived at Fort Stewart in August 2009.

He deployed one time with the 3rd ID and participated in August's retirement ceremony.
