Anthony Alberico and Kenneth Carey saw each other for the first time in nearly 60 years. The two men are the only remaining crew members from the 92nd Bombing Crew that flew 33 missions over Europe aboard the Johnny Walker II. The men who flew aboard this B-17 bomber now have a memorial plaque dedicated to their memory at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.
"Like a lot of people, Dad never really talked about the war," said Kenneth Carey, the copilot's son. "Only one day a few years before he died did we sit down and talk about it."
Twenty-five percent of the Eighth Air Force was lost during that war.
