CHATHAM COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - A former Savannah-Chatham Metro police officer is getting a chance to make it on the big screen.
Stephen Murphy just landed a part in an independent film called Before My Eyes. Murphy will play a corrupt NYPD detective. Filming starts this Saturday in New York.
Murphy left the police department in 2008 and aside from acting he is also pursuing a masters degree in Clinical Psychology. Murphy says at first the director hired him as a technical director, to help them get the police scenes right, then gave him a role in the movie.
Murphy said, "He said I would be a great fit for his movie and he wanted me in it. I was shocked. I said wow, me in a movie and here we are."
Murphy says filming should last two months. The movie should be completed in early 2012. For more information about the film, visit www.misguidedproduction.com.
