SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - In2Books, a second annual program that connects students with adult mentors, is looking for 547 adult pen pals for elementary schools.
Twenty-seven elementary school classrooms are participating in the program.
There are an estimated 128 pen pals signed up for the program, nearly 550 more are needed. Pen Pals must have Internet access and who can devote a couple of hours a month making a difference in the lives of elementary school students.
Last year's inaugural program in Savannah served more than 400 students, gave away more than 1,100 books to students and saw a corresponding number of community members making a difference in our classrooms.
To become a pen pal, go to www.in2bookssavannah.com. There, you will register, pass a free background check using a promotional code available on the site and introduce yourself in a letter. Pen pals must be older than 18.
