SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - More than two dozen people, displaced after a fire gutted the rooming house they were living in, are still looking for a new place to stay.
Fire ripped through a two-story rooming house early Saturday morning at the corner of Whitaker and 42nd streets. Twenty-six people were living there.
On Monday, the house is all boarded up. The owners said they don't know if they will be able to salvage the structure.
The American Red Cross plans to meet with all the victims Tuesday morning to help them fine a new place to stay. The victims have spent the past two nights in local hotels.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
