Trooper's vehicle destroyed by fire

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A Georgia State Patrol car went up in flames on Interstate16 about a mile east of 67 near Statesboro.

Officials said a trooper was running radar on the median when the grass suddenly caught fire and quickly spread to the car. The incident happened shortly before 12 p.m. Monday and is still under investigation.

Authorities said they don't know how the fire started. There were no injuries and no other cars were involved.  The car was destroyed.
