LUDOWICI, GA (WTOC) - A man deputies said traveled across the country to have sex with a minor appeared before a judge on Tuesday.
Investigators say 61-year-old Ronald Bohlman traveled from Glendale, Ariz., to the Rye Patch community to meet a 16-year-old in hopes of having sex. Bohlman said he was in Atlanta for a conference.
"The conference that he attended in Atlanta may have just been a diversion, if his wife was curious about his whereabouts, what his activities were, what he was doing, what he was up to. That may have been a reasonable explanation to her why he was in Georgia," Long County Investigator Thomas Sollosi told WTOC.
Authorities believe the teen and Bohlman communicated on the internet for nine months. A Liberty County special investigator is helping with the case.
Bohlman was denied bond.
