Firefighters remove trapped driver from SUV

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - An early-afternoon traffic rollover in Savannah's historic district left a driver trapped his SUV.

The wreck between a red two-door Ford Explorer and a white Ford F-150 pickup truck happened at about 2:25 p.m. at the intersection of Lincoln and East Anderson streets.

The collision overturned the Explorer, trapping the driver inside. Savannah firefighters had to stabilize the vehicle in order to begin extricating the man, according to Savannah Fire and Emergency Services.

Firefighters worked for about 25 minutes using the Jaws of Life to cut away and pry open portions of the driver's side of the Explorer in order to extricate the driver from the wreckage.

The driver was taken to Memorial University Medical Center.
