SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Our police officers, firefighters and EMTs put their lives on the line every day. Now you can help an organization that helps them.

On Wednesday, several Coastal Empire and Lowcountry businesses, along with the 200 Club of the Coastal Empire, announced their fund raising goal for the 4th annual "Shields for Heroes" campaign.

Starting Monday, September 13 you can donate $1 or $5 any where you see the shields for sale. They hope to raise $43,000 during the six-week campaign.

The 200 Clubs says 100% of the money raised goes to the families of those killed in the line of duty in our area.

For the first time, Habersham Beverage Warehouse in Savannah is going to sell the shield to their customers.

"I've volunteered with the sheriff's department in the past and I think it's very important to those employees, firefighters and police officers that we support what they do for our community. And if there is a crisis they don't have to worry about their families being taken care of," said Chuck Fountain of Habersham Beverage Warehouse.

Retailer participants include: Burger King, Dean Forest Guns and Ammo, Enmark, Fleet Feet, Habersham Beverage Warehouse and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The counties participating include Brantley, Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Jenkins, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs and Wayne counties in Georgia. Beaufort and Jasper counties in South Carolina are also participating.
