SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A health care science teacher at Southeast Bulloch High School is named Georgia's Health Care Science Educator of the Year by the Georgia Health Care Science Technology Educators Association.
Sharon Pye was also recognized for achieving industry certification for the high school's Health Care Science Program.
Two of her first students are now registered nurses and several others are pursuing health science careers such as nursing, physical therapy, radiology technology, dentistry, medicine and veterinary science, according to a news release.
Outside the classroom, Pye advises the school's Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) chapter. She started the club five years ago.
